Roads for cars in Russia are distributed non-uniformly. The network of roads in the European part of Russia is most developed. In the north, in Siberia and in the Far East of roads it is much less. The Most important roads are roads of federal value – "Federal highways". They connect various regions of Russia and have the big extent. On a chart the basic highways are designated.

Road M1 "Belarus".

M1 "Belarus". The road passes from Moscow to border with Belarus. The road is a part of the European highway E30 connecting Ireland, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Belarus and Russia. Extent of highway М1 — 440 kilometres.

Road M2 "Crimea".

M2 "Crimea". Road from Moscow to border with Ukraine. Road a part of European route E 105 (Norway, Russia, Ukraine). The road passes through the cities of Moscow, Tula, the Eagle, Kursk, Belgorod and further is laid to border with Ukraine (Kiev). Extent of highway М2 — 720 km.

Road M3 "Ukraine".

M3 "Ukraine". (the Kiev highway). Road from Moscow to border with Ukraine. The road passes through the cities of Moscow, Kaluga, Bryansk and further to border with Ukraine (Kiev). Extent of a highway — 490 kilometres.

Road M4 "Don".

M4 "Don". The Highway of federal value М4 passes through the cities of Moscow, Voronezh, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Novorossisk. Many cars move to summertime on road going to resorts of Black sea (for example Anapa, Sochi). Extent of a highway makes 1543 km.

Road M5 "Ural".

M5 "Ural". The highway Moscow — Chelyabinsk passes through the cities of Samaras and Ufa. The road is a part of European route E30 (which passes from the city of Cork in Ireland through Great Britain, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Belarus to Omsk in Russia). It is possible to take advantage of road if you go from Moscow to Siberia. Extent of a highway — 1879.

M6 "Caspian Highway".

M6 "Caspian sea". The highway Moscow — Astrakhan passes through the cities of Tambovs and Volgograd. Extent of a highway — 1380 kilometres.

M7 "Volga".

M7 "Volga". Highway М7 Moscow — Ufa passes through cities Vladimir, Nizhni Novgorod and Kazan. It is possible to take advantage of road, if you go from Moscow to Siberia. Extent of a highway — 1340 kilometres.

M8 “Kholmogory”.

M8 “Kholmogory”. Highway M8 is known also under the name “Yaroslavl highway”. The Highway Moscow — Severodvinsk passes through the cities of Yaroslavl, Vologda and Arkhangelsk. Length of a highway is 1271 km.

Road to the city of Magadan

М56 passes to the city of Magadan. The highway begins from settlement Skovorodino on highway М58 and through the city of Tynda reaches the city of Yakutsk. This part of a highway has the name “Lena Highway or The Amur-Yakutsk Highway”. Length of this part is 1235 kilometers. Further the highway has name Kolyma Highway also known as the Road of Bones. The highway is laid between the cities of Yakutsks and Magadan and has in the length of 2032 km
