Museums of Petersburg. 

Petersburg has now big number museums (about 200) and architectural sightseeing.  Number one is undoubtedly world's famous Hermitage - one of the world's largest museums. In the Hermitage there are about three million exhibits. Extent of the museum galleries is about 19 kilometers. But there are also many interesting, big and small museums in St. Petersburg. The most known museums.

The Hermitage.

The Hermitage has one of the world's lagest and most famous collection of art. The museums holds nearky three million exibits ranging from archeologikal finds to modern paintings. The richly decorated gilded halls of the Winter Palace with their pillars and vases of malachite and lapis lazul give an ideal frame for the masterpieces of sculpture and painting. Vary popular among the visitors are the exibits of European paintings.

Russian museum.

If you are interested in Russia, its history and culture, this is definitely a museum to visit. The collektion of Russian art in Mihailovskiy Palace is one of the biggest in the world. Here You can admire icons painted by Rublev, great sea and landscape paintings of Aivasovskiy, Levitan and Repin, mytical worcs by Vrubel and Vasnetsou. The museum has also a big collection of avantgarde paintings and abstract arts.

Kunstkamer.

This beautiful blue Baroque palacewas built by order of Peter the Great to host his anatomical collektion of rarities. It became one of Russia's first museums to wich people were lured by the free distribution of a glass of vodka at the entrance. the museum also included a library and observatory. Today the building houses the Museum of Antropology and Ethnography.

Church on spilled blood."Spas na krovi" church.

This church was built as a memorial to Tsar Alexander II who was assassinated in 1881 on the spot where the church now stands. The scurc is famous for its many colourfull mosaics snd for the prescious stouns, used both on the inside and outside of the church.
