The Bank Bridge and the Golden Wings Sculpture

The Bank Bridge is one of St. Petersburg’s most popular tourist attractions. The bridge spans the Griboyedov Canal just south of Nevsky Prospekt, approximately 300 meters from Nevsky Prospekt.

The bridge is approximately 25 meters long and 1.9 meters wide. This small suspension bridge stands out from other bridges in the city.

The bridge is famous for the sculptures of fairytale Griffins, located at the corners of the bridge. Griffins resemble winged lions. They wouldn’t be so famous if not for their large, gold-covered wings. Four golden-winged lions either hold and guard the bridge or invite tourists to take photos.

The Cathedral of the Savior on Spilled Blood is visible in the distance in the photograph, with the colonnade of the Kazan Cathedral on the left.

Nearest metro station: Nevsky Prospekt. To reach the Bank Bridge, walk from Nevsky Prospekt along the Griboyedov Canal in the direction behind the Kazan Cathedral.

The location of the bridge can be found on a map of St. Petersburg.

A big request from restorers and other tourists: Please do not touch the griffins or their wings, and do not climb on the bridge railings.
