The Hermitage located in the Winter Palace - the most known museum in Petersburg and (probably) in all Russia. In its collection is more than three millions exhibits telling about history of mankind from ancient times up to now.The Hermitage and "Palace Square" - the most popular sight of Petersburg.

The winter Palace was the main residence of the Russian emperor. You can to see magnificent interiors of an imperial palace and see a throne of the emperor in the Hermitage. (Look a photo on the right.)

Operating time and price.

The Hermitage Main Museum Complex, Menshikov Palace, General Staff building and the Museum of the Imperial Porcelain Factory is open:
Tuesdays – Saturdays: 10.30 - 18.00,
Sundays: 10.30 - 17.00,
Mondays - closed
Entrance ticket price (for all categories of foreign visitors) - 300 rubles The first Thursday of each month an input in a museum is free (it is necessary to receive the free ticket in museum cash desk).

In the Hermitage there is a big collection of works of art of ancient Egypt. You can look an ancient Egyptian mummy, sarcophagi, ancient sculptures and subjects of a life of ancient Egyptians in a museum. In a photo the sculpture of Egyptian tsarina Cleopatra is represented. The sculpture has been made for hundred years B.C.
