Krasnye Vorota metro station is located on the Sokolnicheskaya Line (Line 1, Red Line), between the Komsomolskaya and Chistye Prudy stations. The station opened on May 15, 1935.
The station has two above-ground concourses, located on opposite sides of the Garden Ring. The station concourses are located at the intersection of Sadovo-Spasskaya, Sadovo-Chernogryazskaya, and Kalancheyevskaya Streets.
The station is 650 meters from Kazansky Railway Station (Komsomolskaya Square), and 2.8 kilometers from Red Square.
Incidentally, the station design was awarded the Grand Prix at the 1937 World’s Fair in Paris.
